Help, how do I keep the house clean when everyone else messes it up?

Also if you can afford a semi regular cleaning service, do it! The expense is worth the lessened stress and aggravation. Anytime I have house guests, I scrape some money together and have the house cleaned. Otherwise I'll be super resentful about having to kill myself getting the house spot less (it doesn't help that it's more often than not DH's family coming to stay). If your DH balks, tell him he can either step up and help you keep from getting out of your depth, or you all can continue to pay for the cleaning service.
