Calling your wife (or any woman) a c&nt is not meaningless husband-wife banter. It's just not. |
Like a PP said- no one is perfect.. just check out Hillary's way to reference her hubbie (and others)..

I was the one who made the comment that McCain's comment might be marital banter (although I forgot to sign in that time). I don't know whether all of Hillary's comments on the moonbattery page are actual quotes, but they illustrate my claim that you can't give an absolute meaning to any word. What is totally shocking to one person may be offhand chatter to another. People were executed for blasphemy because they said things that would not cause us to blink nowadays. Don't forget McCain's background. If anyone should be expected to cuss like a sailor ... |
No, sorry. Call your wife the c word will never be "offhand chatter." And excusing an abusively misogynistic remark away by saying well, he was in the miliary...what a joke. |
Certainly if these quotes are accurate, they do not reflect well on her. And I certainly don't forgive her for behaving that way just because I agree with her on some of her political positions. |
Oh grow up. Rich is right, you can't give an absolute meaning to every word. Calling your wife the "c word" might never be offhand chatter to you, but you have no idea what is said behind bedroom doors, by her or by him and what the context is. Really - get over it. |
Well, what is said behind closed doors is their business. However, this "chatter" was in public and in front of other people. What kind of humiliation is that? |
Maybe that's the problem. I *am* a grownup. I don't call people names and I don't hide behind my military background in being abusive to my spouse. And, as the previous poster noted, this was not said behind bedroom doors. Hence the fact that we all know about it, Einstein. Sigh. |
"Cuss like a sailor" is an old cliche that I (an Obama supporter) threw in because it seemed relevant. It was not McCain hiding anywhere. I have no great desire to justify anything about McCain, but I think passing up his conversion to Rovianism and his recent kowtowing to the religious and corporate right to concentrate on a comment he made in front of a few reporters years ago weakens the argument. BTW, I don't mean to criticize your personal repulsion. Only the implication that we should all share it. |
Today McCain encouraged Cindy to participate in a topless beauty contest:
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/08/05/scenes-from-the-trail-mccain-makes-the-rounds-at-biker-rally/ Apparently, sometimes its even bottomless. Maybe he's not as old-fashioned as I thought... |
Oh for the love of Pete...I am sure he probably didn't know that this was a topless pageant. He was being cute and saying his wife should compete in the pageant because she is so pretty. Now the guy can't even compliment his wife. |
The article did say that there were scantily-clad women at this annual event. McCain is not that naive. Jeez. |
Don't know why we even both defending McCain on this board...cause you all think Obama is the be all end all not matter how dirty Obama's dealings are.
|
Don't know why we even bother defending McCain on this board...cause you all think Obama is the be all end all not matter how dirty Obama's dealings are.

Oh I don't think it matters whether he knew it was a topless pageant or not. He was just joking! I won't vote for the guy but he is obviously kidding around here. |
