many of the doctors at shady grove only treat patients that fit a certain profile and they follow the SG protocol which may or may NOT work for you, if you are an unusual case it's best to look elsewhere. |
Stillman was my RE for 3 failed IVF cycles a couple of years ago. His demeanor was nice enough, but I didn't care for his lack of thoroughness in his consults. It seemed to me that he would review my records just mins prior to each consult and he brushed off many of my questions. At the time when I was under his care, I asked about a more progressive protocol for poor responders. He refused to leave his comfort zone to try this protocol. As it turned out, this was the very protocol that ended up working for me at another center. |
SGFC is a horrible place. I became buddies with their ultrasonographer and was told that Stillmen rules with an iron fist. She would share information with me about my cycle only if I swore to keep it in confidence because she knew that Stillmen would not approve of her sharing any insights with patients. I left their center and had success at another center where I got more personal attention from my RE. |
PP totally agree but you will find people that have had good and bad experiences at all DC places. |
He did one of my 2 IUIs on the successful cycle that I had so I am a Stillman fan! |
I am a current patient at SGFC and Dr. Greenhouse is my doctor. I have also seen Dr. Levens and Dr. Saffron on occassion, but my primary is Greenhouse. I had to deal with Dr. Stillman early this month when we had an emergency over the weekend and I don't want to sound to harsh over one visit, but he made me feel very uncomfortable and almost as if I was over reacting. Just left a bad taste in my mouth. But that being said, I still love Dr. Greenhouse and Dr. Levens. Love them! |
Dr. Stillman is my RE and I don't have a problem with him. Now granted I have only been his patient for a short time, but I am not bothered by his mannerisms. He does seem a little laid back and can sometimes gloss over a question. But, the times I've repeated my question or said I don't understand, he has always taken the time to explain it to me or offer another answer. I haven't felt rushed either. I will say, he has taken a VERY laidback approach with me, which doesn't bother right this second, but it might in a month or two. And I love, love, love Jenny his nurse. |
Dr. Stillman was our RE and I was very happy with our experience at SG. PPs are correct in that at SG, depending on the days your monitoring, MET, egg retrieval, and transfer are done, you may not see "your" doctor again if all goes well. Shady Grove is a very large practice and I was seen by Dr. Stillman, Dr. Chang, Dr. Levy, Dr. Osborn, and Dr. McKeeby. They all had a great bedside manner. We had 4 attempts at IUI, once with Dr. Stillman. Prior to the 4th attempt at IUI, we consulted with Dr. Stillman and we (me, DH, and Stillman) decided to try IVF if the 4th IUI wasn't successful. He took into account our calendars (work, travel, biological) and came up with a protocol that had us moving to IVF the week after the 4th failed IUI attempt. Dr. Stillman did our transfer and we are now the parents of happy and healthy twin boys. Throughout the entire process, our nurse was a constant and I am thankful for all of the support that Sharon gave us during our time with SG, which was not very long as our initial consult was in April and we got our good news in November. Good luck to you. |
PP congrats, we did not have a good experience with Stillman or SG, but luckily we found a better doctor and hopefully we will get success soon. |
