Westminster is an option in northern Va.

Avoid Westminster like the plague.

Every educator I know raves about the Center for Inspired Teaching (which is the founding group). Two teachers per class. Has openings in 1st - 3rd as far as I know.

How can an educator rave about a school that hasn't even opened yet?

As mentioned above, educators are raving about the Center for Inspired Teaching, the nonprofit group that founded the school. It has a 15-year track record.

The Center for Inspired Teaching has been around for about 15 years and has trained educators--both public and private--through it's program. It's very highly regarded and most teachers who have come through the program think that an entire school based on the Center's philosphy and combined with an entire staff that has bought into it, would be phenomenal. Have yet to meet any educational professional who hasn't raved about the Center and who isn't excited about it's Demonstration school.

look into Fourth Presbyterian School in Potomac. the school is only 11 years old, so it's not that well-known yet. it just got accredited and its reputation is growing. small classes (7 to 1 student-faculty ratio), large endowment ($3.5 million), experienced faculty, and beautiful campus -- 32 acres with a gym, athletic fields and a pool.

Can you say Evangelists?

The letter from the headmaster on the website is just plain loony tunes.

Avoid this one, too. It hasn't been able to achieve full enrollment in a while (not worth the money!).

I think it's a good feeder if you want to go to Holton though

Primary Day is a very traditional prek - 2nd grade coed school which focused heavily on the basics (reading, handwriting and math)

Traditionally many grads go on to Landon and Holton but in the past few years, many grads have also gone to Sidwell, Potomac, Bullis and Norwood.

Not sure why you avoid a school that hasn't achieved full enrollment. The economy has played havoc with a lot of schools especially smaller ones.

Potomac Patch picked it up too - http://potomac.patch.com/articles/feynman-school-seeks-to-educate-montgomery-countys-gifted-children-2

Any other DCUMers read Patch? Looks as though they've employed some writers from the Gazette.

The ED was at Beauvoir, Sidwell, and Holton Arms.

Take a look at Congressional. Great facilities and we've had really good experiences there. DS is very happy. Teachers have been great.
