Low hCG numbers?

Honestly, everything seems fine and your doctor seems like he's putting you through unnecessary stress. Check out this website:
http://babymed.com/tools/pregnancy/hcg/Default.aspx (on top of the beta base website I mentioned earlier).

I had an early miscarriage and when that happened my #'s weren't anywhere close to doubling...nor were they as high as yours were. I know its still very early in the pg, but it seems to me that everything is looking great!

How many days into your cycle were you when you ovulated? For example, I know I ovulate late...so if a Dr. did a beta on me using my LMP and then assumed I ovulated on Day 14, obviously my hcg levels wouldn't be what the Dr. expected.

23:09 poster here....I also wanted to add that I know someone who had an etopic pregnancy and she was in the most severe pain - so it made the etopic pretty obvious.

The number doubled. I am not sure what the doc is so concerned about. Some people just have slow rising betas with a healthy pregnancy.

Your numbers seem to be rising appropriately, so that's good. I'm guessing that your doctor is just being extra cautious.

With all the new tests/technology, we know so much, so soon. SOmetimes that's great and they can quickly identify things that look problematic, but sometimes it just sends up red flags where they don't belong. Sorry for any needless stress this is adding to what, ideally, should be a purely joyous time (you're pregnant! yay!!!).

Please keep us posted. Fingers crossed for a healthy baby 8 months from now.

The number doubled so chances are everything is ok (but I am not a medical professional). Your doctor may just be overly conservative and trying to play it safe. Good luck to you and please update us.

To the poster who said that the ectopic would hurt - it doesn't have to, especially this early on while there's still room for the egg to grow in the tube (obviously when it ruptures it would hurt like hell). Unfortunately, this was the experience of a friend - she had no pain or unusual symptoms, it was completely asymptomatic (I don't think she had her hCG levels checked) until it ruptured. And then she almost died, had severe hemmorhage and was in the ICU for some time. This isn't meant to scare anyone, just to point out that there can be problems even if everything seems ok.

This is a calculator for hcg doubling times. You are doubling in less than 48 hours. That sounds good to me.

07:18 here. sounds to me like your doctor is being a bit dramatic. your numbers almost tripled, so what on earth is the problem?

here were mine:

16.9 (13DPO)
40 (15 DPO)
76 (17DPO)
180 (19DPO)
408 (21DPO)

i had a lot of bleeding which is why i had so many done. it resolved and i am 8 weeks with a healthy embryo.

OP here - I just wanted to give an update. I had another test on yesterday, which would be 6 days after the last test (141) and my number is now 2325, so I feel much better now. My numbers are definitely doubling each day.

Thanks for all of the responses,
