My point was that if this guy had called his MOTHER saying "MOM I'M NOT FEELING WELL I'LL GO AWAY FOR A WEEK OR SO SO DON'T BE WORRIED" nothing would ever happened.

A lot of people got involved, several thousands of dollars from taxpayers money was spent to find a person who was never really missing.

It was mean and inconsiderate of HIM to go away like this and leave his loved ones behind without any info about him.

I agree with you pp. It was definitely strange and more importantly
inconsiderate if many ppl. I hope he is getting the help he needs!

I must confess to being a little annoyed with him too. Why not just let close friends and family know he needed a break on his own.

This reminds me of a friend's brother who went missing without telling his fiancé, friends or family. He was found dead a few days later. His family said he had gone for a walk and that he had died of natural causes ( what natural causes kill a 28 yo?) but I and other friendd suspected suicide. People worry when a grown person suddenly disappears. He should have been more thoughtful.
