I took it for a few days and got nasty greasy skin. I then read an article by dr sher I think how it's not a good thing for AMAs so I stopped taking it. |
My AMH went up over the course of a couple of years from .6 to 2.7 to 3.9 (age 42 at that last measurement). No doctor could explain it. I was on DHEA for a long time, then switched to CoQ10, then a bunch of other supplements. DHEA also caused my testosterone to shoot up, and too much testosterone is bad for egg quality. It's meant to only be on it 3-4 months, at a dose that keeps your levels in an optimal range. Definitely test before you go on it. |
Better test your DHEA-S and Testosterone level on Day3 of your cycle before taking the DHEA.
RE suggests keeping your DHEA-S level around 200 while taking the DHEA. So, if your DHEA-S is below 200 before taking the DHEA, you want to take it to up to 200 level. Also, increased DEHA-S level in your system should increase your Testosterone, but for some people, taking the DHEA does not improve the Testosterone level. If you are one of those unfortunate group, you can then take Testosterone supplement at the start of your fresh cycle to supplement testosterone directly rather than thru DHEA-S. So, all the more you want to test your DHEA-S and Testosterone level (on Day3, recommended). |
My DEHA-S prior to taking DHEA was 114 (less than 200), so I am taking 50mg of DHEA now. Waiting to test my levels again this month. RE also said if your DHEA-S is above 400+, no need to take DHEA. And, if you are in the "testosterone does not improve group", you can drop your DHEA and ask for testosterone supplement (prescription?) from your RE or PCP. |
