There's a boy in my son's class named Kai - I think his dad is from Hawaii. I also have a co-worker who really liked the name but ultimately decided to use it as a middle name.

The more I hear it, the more I like it.

I'm 44 and had a boy in my class in elementary school named Kai. He was cute and nice, so I have positive associations with that name. I say go for it.

My sister's name is Kai. She is Filipino. She never had any problems with it. My coworker, who is male, is also Kai, and he is Chinese. I named my son Tai.

I was considering it. When I was sharing names with co-workers a friend who was AA shared that she knows a few who are AA and thought it was an AA name.

For us it did not matter - but just wanted to share a POV.
