Get a different soap, I got dial to wash armpits and "down there" and wash with a washcloth or a soft brush his really helped
Also I had to switch deodorants, I rotate through a couple different ones
Panty liners, the scented ones, change multiple times a day

You wash your vag with a brush?

This is hilarious! I think if you need a scrub brush or god forbid a hairbrush down there, you should try trimming!

This thread is so bizarre, but for some reason I can't stop hitting refresh to see what is posted next! I'm peeing my pants reading this!

There was no aroma in the room or on your clothing after you gave birth?

Did you get to smell your babies head before it was all scrubbed off?

Surely someone on here knows what "Essence of Birth" smells like.

"Essence of Birth" ?!?!?

I was very much alert during the vaginal birth of my three kids. I was in a hospital and I didn't sniff the placenta, I have no idea what smell you are referring to! Nothing stank or gave an unusual odor.

This thread is hysterical!

Seriously, I had no idea there was an "essence of birth." I must have missed that the first time around... I'm due in two weeks and you can be sure I'll now be sniffing around after I deliver for the elusive "essence of birth"

This is just insane! Unless you gave birth at home and you and your husband feasted on placenta afterwards then it was probably just a hospital smell you remember. Most people deliver the placenta and it's whisked away. What did your husband get elbow deep and inspect your afterbirth?

It's bizarre alright but you peeing your pants is just your pregnancy-related incontinence!

I used to smell like teen spirit. But alas, I grew out of it. Surely this too will pass.

FYI, When I googled "scent of placenta" the lyrics to an Eminem song came up. I'd like to think this thread is a farce, but this is DCUM...

Here is a discussion on the smell of lochia, the smell of birth is in there somewhere

http://www.mothering.com/community/forum/thread/877699/smell-of-lochia

Here is something else

For those of you that “know” placentas, you know that all placentas have a unique smell. They all smell pretty much the same, but they have a distinct placenta smell. http://www.indiebirth.com/i-did-it-10-days-of-eating-my-placenta/

Why is it insane?

Maybe a bit different but it's not insane. But to tickle you even more, my placenta is actually in my freezer. Maybe we can all have a party, I'll defrost it, and we can see if it still has that new birth scent.

To answer the question of why it is in my freezer- I was going to have it encapsulated, but then I changed my mind and I haven't decided what to do with it yet.

I remember the amniotic fluid smell--kind of like the ocean? I don't even remember the placenta happening it was whisked away so fast. Maybe I never even had one, LOL.

Not the PP you are quoting, but not all of us had a vaginal birth. I had a c/s, and don't remember any strong smells. My baby was clean by the time I got to hold her.

Excuse me? It's in your freezer? Is that sanitary? What if you lose power and it infects your Eggo waffles? This thread is getting more bizarre by the moment.
