Don't forget the crappiest education in the developed world!! USA! USA! USA! |
The Dems had control of the House, Senate (with enough votes to stop a filibuster) and the White House -- did you see them passing all that family friendly legislation? Yeah, me either. |
I find this humerus considering this is a D.C. forum. Very few places in the U.S. have schools as embarrassingly horrid as D.C. Public Schools. |
Excellent! The most liberal democrats come from Republican parents. Keep going! |
that's funny. I only got 3 months maternity leave b/c my work made me take my leave concurrently with my FMLA. So in order to get 6 months leave, I would have to have SIX MONTHS of leave saved. I don;t know about you, but my work does not allow that much time off. We get 20 days a year and can't roll over all of it. Use it or loose it policy. Who ever said anything about me being the center of teh universe? what planet are u on? I'm sorry if you don't care about keeping your kids safe, away from toxins, and don't care about maternity leave. |
they can't pass anything with the Republicans in control of the House now. Obama has tried. |
OP, how do you suggest getting "rid" of Republicans? |
Obesity. |
bad health care! |
no environmental regulations! |
The two best things about teaching: July and August. Teachers can opt to have a 12-month paycheck instead of a 9-month pay check. They dont get paid more but they still get paychecks year-round. As a former teacher I still had to find work for those two months "vacation" to make ends meet- taking less money every month to be paid during those summer months doesn't make it a vacation... |
the Republicans will be swimming in oil from lack of regulation on the oil companies. that will do them in! |
hah, yes, blame the Republicans for the state of education. sigh. Republicans LOVE the teachers unions. |
Well Republican hate lots of things. Lots. The list goes on and on what republicans hate. But I have yet to see that hatred generate solutions. It's more like bitching. |
I'm a Republican mom. I agree that the US could be more child/family-friendly. We have a daycare crisis. We have generally horrible child-birth leave. We have some healthcare issues, especially for the working poor. That being said, why is this a 'mom' issue??? Doesn't daycare help dads too? I also agree that as much as Republicans need to rethink some approaches (don't just denounce abortion; rather, compassionately support struggling families) it is not as simple as "Republicans hate families". Republicans take a different approach, once that in my opinion in the long run often cuts through some of the horrid unintended consequences of the Democrat nanny-state. Why can't they meet somewhere in the middle more often? |
