| The title of this thread makes me laugh. Thanks, OP! |
Yeah, but I think lots of people have felt this way since any other type of yogurt has as much sugar (and other junk) as candy. We tried a bunch of different kinds of plan yogurt until we found one we liked. It has to be a yogurt that only has like whole milk and live cultures and that's it. No reduced calorie or reduced fat stuff tastes good. So it's delicious and low sugar, but high in calories...Trade-off. |
| Try adding a little vanilla extract. I bought some vanilla yogurt recently and didn't realize it didn't have any sugar added. It was really good my 2 year old and I both ate it and loved it. |

I just tried Skyr yesterday & it was great - but it's like $2.50 for a one-serving container, even more $$ than Greek!
The nice thing about Skyr is that the vanilla flavor is lightly sweetened with agave, which is a low-glycemic sweetener so it's better than sugar. |
| honey and granola!! makes a world of difference. |
Exactly this. I never liked plain yogurt either, until I started buying the full-fat kind for my daughter. It's really delicious. We put a little bit (quarter teaspoon) of colored sugar in it just for fun. She prefers it to any kind of packaged, flavored, sweetened yogurt. As do it, now. |

Ladies, the BEST plain yoghurt is the 'European Style Plain Yoghurt' at Trader Joe's. It is sooo delicious and creamy and not so tangy. You don't even need to add sweetener to it to enjoy it. You can also use it as a creamy topping for baked potatoes or add it to carrot or tomato soup. It is also delicious when you add honey or agave sirup and some fruit.
Beware - it sells out quickly when available. |
| Try thinking about it as savory dip or condiment instead of something sweet. I love plain yogurt with cucumber, garlic and a little salt with pita , on hamburgers or as a dip. |

Agree with other PPs, it must be full-fat, or else it is too sour. Try Brown Cow Cream Top (plain). Hardly sour at all. I can eat that one straight (mix it first so the little bit of cream is distributed throughout). I like Greek yogurt too, but I can't eat it straight, I must add some honey. I don't like doing that, so I usually do Brown Cow (or make my own yogurt using Brown Cow as a starter, but although fun it isn't quite as good).
Plain may be something of an acquired taste. It took me a while to really get to like the plain, but now I am a big fan. Also, perhaps try kefir - a sort of drinkable yogurt. It is a bit sour for drinking straight, but it's fantastic in smoothies. I blend it with frozen banana and mango, sometimes with a touch of cardamom - it's like a mango lassi, but not as sweet. I usually have it a few times a week either for breakfast or dinner. |
| I like Trader Joe's no fat vanilla yogurt |

I'm with you. I love Greek plain yogurt - BUT only when used like I would use sour cream (on potatoes, on tacos). I cannot eat it wth a spoon - even with honey or other additives.
To eat plain regular yogurt, I'd have to add so much sugar myself, that it's pointless. So I just eat the flavored yogurts. Sure it has sugar, but I use it as an afternoon snack. And my rule in general is sugar and fat are OK in moderation, especially if parred with other more beneficial things. I figure the benefit of yogurt outweighs the disadvantage of the sugar. Heck, I even buy the kind where you mix in cookie bits when I need the extra incentive to eat my yogurt. |
