Why do Ayn Rand's book suck?

"Did I miss anything? "

Yes, OP.

Correct the grammar in your thread.

Wow what a subjective defense of the author of objectivism. Liberals hate it so it must be true. That is exactly how Ayn Rand writes her characters. Hilarious and weak-minded.

Indeed. If this is what passes for "logic" and "reason" in the world of Ayn Rand and her followers, then the bar is even lower than I thought it was.

I wonder if the sex poodle is a follower of Ayn Rand?

She has a lot of thinly-disguised rape in her books. Her heroes are not exactly the sex poodle type - instead they are bizarre fantasies about how strong men behave with women. The serial killer in the link above will give you an idea about her role models.

The DCUM bar is much lower.

True. I doubt the musings of our resident tea bagger would ever be deemed worthy of publication.

National Atlas Shrugged essay writing contest? Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Whew. I didn't know such a thing existed. Thank you PP for what I'm sure will be my best laugh of the day. I googled it and it's still a national competition. The deadline is September 17th and the top prize is $10,000. As a graduate student I qualify to enter, and for that kind of money I'm going to blow the dust off my long neglected copy of Atlas shrugged and give it the old college try.

Yup, I'm the PP who won it (shamefully!). I mentioned it to show that I do have a good grasp of objectivism (before tearing into it), and that I think it's obtuse crap now that I'm not a ridiculous teenager anymore.

PP, I appreciated your post and got what you were trying to say. The fact that you won this contest and now realize the absurdity of it wins you a lot of cool points. Thanks again for making my day. You're the best.

Sounded more like you were bragging.

Definitely not I would never admit it in a non-anonymous forum. I'm a pretty big liberal, and it's a black mark on my record! (I should also mention the monetary prize was much lower back then, so it wasn't like I made bank from it, either.)

Haha, thanks. I should have phrased it differently so people knew I'm not proud of it at all!

Did you return the prize money?

Ha ha! Are you arguing that it's "morally correct" to return money won under false pretenses (i.e. she grew up)? Because Ayn herself would surely disagree!
