OP again -I am not sure I have strong feelings for or against the Disney or Nick tween type shows mentioned so I would rather get suggestions and try them out.
Also, we do have Weta Kids and she likes many of the shows but she didn't seem to think the other kids knew those shows. thanks again, very helpful. |

I don't think iCarly is bad in terms of the tween=y aspect. Kids are generally very respectful to adults and there's not a strong focus on tween romance and dating. Sure it comes up occasionally and probably more now that the kids are older, but still ... I think it addresses issues like self-expression, being true to yourself, etc. in a funny and engaging way.
Now Zack and Cody ... that's another story. |

My 6 year old just went through a serious iCarly addiction. It's quite a funny show, and I found myself watching it a few times when she wasn't even in the room (oops).
But now she's back to watching cartoons like My Little Pony and Strawberry shortcake. |
| My soon to be 6 yr old loves The Wild Kratts and Scooby Doo. He will watch Dinosaur Train and pretty much any nature show on TV too. He isn't interested in non-cartoon shows like iCarly, etc. |
| Tom and Jerry, The Cat in the Hat, Phineus and Ferb. Oh also Destroy Build Destroy. |
| Interesting. I'd thought my just turned 7yo had sort of unusual TV preferences but many of his favorites have already been mentioned - Wild Kratts, Dino Dan, occasionally still watches Dinosaur Train. He very recently has gotten into the Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That, which I think is also on PBS and has a sciencey sort of angle. |
| pbs and sprout. |
| the only show on PBS my seven year old likes is Arthur and maybe Curious George and Sprout, really? My son likes Pokemon, Tom and Jerry and Spongebob-which I find funny too. |
| My kids like the Muppet Show, too. I let the kids pick out whatever DVD's they want from the library each week. My 6.5 daughter loves the science titles like the DK Eyewitness series and NOVA, Ghostbusters, Mythbusters, etc. She likes Dancing with the Stars and Wipeout and we let her watch 1/2 hour of it. when it's on. The kids also like Phineas and Ferb and the old Electric Company. They're not keen on the new one for some reason. I try to keep them away from ICarly and its ilk and I don't listen to any complaints about what other kids get to watch or do. We don't have pay tv either, just the converter box for local channels. |
| Nothing. We have no cable and no TV, just DVDs. Keeps 'em away from commercials... and from watching 11 year olds act sexy.... |
| My 6.5 yo son loves Scooby Doo and we also stream old Pink Panther cartoons on Netflix. He's also into a whole range of nature documentaries. When he's watching "live broadcast" TV (meaning, not DVDs or streaming) he likes Word Girl. And, yes, Sponge Bob. |
| Pink panther and looney tunes. Also Phiness and Ferb. |
| WETA Kids all the way, plus Phineas and Ferb, and any nature show out there. |

My 6 yr old loves Dino Dan too. Tom & Jerry has my 6 yr old cracking up, and he also loves Sid the Science Kid. |
