FTM will be 38 weeks on Sunday and nothing so far... will this baby come?

I went into labor at 39 weeks, 1 day. Hadn't had any cervical checks before I went to the hospital but once there, they said I was 90% effaced, 0 dilation. Had to have pitocin to get things started but it went well- and baby came within 20 mins of pushing. Good luck to you.

OP here- I just wanted to say thank you for the responses. They really helped me relax and let go of the impatient feelings I was having. I feel so much better and am back to just feeling excited for the baby to come, whenever it happens. Thank you!

I was feeling just like you at 38 weeks. Probably 37 weeks, if I'm honest. And went into labor at 41w6d. ITA with the others about making sure you're ready, but ENJOYing your last few weeks. It could be another whole month until the baby arrives, and life will completely, irrevocably alter at that point. Pamper yourself as much as possible--truly, as thought it were the last time, b/c in some ways it will be. Having a newborn is a marathon, one in which your needs continually come dead last, if ever. (It's also awesome--have no fear.)

I had effacement, but absolutely no dilation until I went to the hospital the morning my water broke, 2 days before my due date. I had absolutely no indication that the baby would be born on time, just my doctor's reassurance that they would induce if she didn't come out by a week after the due date. I was paranoid about my water breaking on metro or at work, so I always had a towel and a spare pair of pants, just in case.

39 weeks today (not OP) and this exact same situation! Pretty much totally effaced but no dilation at all, doc saying she will induce if no baby a week after my due date. You give me hope that I'll go into labor naturally, hopefully this week

don't you have a say in whether your labor is induced? not all providers routinely induce at 41 weeks. ACOG defines normal gestation as up to 42 weeks. i would never agree to be induced at 41 weeks for no medical reason. especially if it's a first baby, you have double the chance of a cesarean, and induced labor is often more painful and longer.
