| Another Lavender Moon fan here. They are the best in the area as far as I have tried. They are served at room temperature, they are always moist, and the frosting is not sickeningly sweet. |
| bakeshop in Clarendon. |
| Honestly, I love the hype of G'town cupcakes and I live only a block away. But, they really aren't that great. I agree with an earlier poster that Giant cupcakes come out ahead. I brought this lovely cake into work from a Giant Bakery (back when they had bakeries onsite) and it was white choc. with white choc. icing. Everyone said it was the best cake they ever had. I told folks at first that I got it at the Ritz...people went on and on raving about it. Then, I said actually I got it at Giant and people were totally shocked. |
| i've been to them all, and alexandria cupcake in OT is the best. get there early because they often sell out and will close early. |
You want overpriced cupcakes that are kind of blah? Heck, I'll happily bake you some and even deliver them to you!

NOT a Gtown Cupcake fan. Lavender Moon is good but I found that cupcakes! on 123 in Vienna is outstanding. My DC and I have tried just about every bakeshop around.
I still like Buzz just for the Illy but the last time we were there the Caffe Mocha cupcake was dry and the frosting was tooth-achingly sweet. Cupcakes Actually in Fairfax is awful, Red Velvet Cupcakery in Dupont and Reston TC is awful, that place near Chevy Chase circle is awful, don't bother. |

Last summer I took my 3 yo son on cupcake field trips: GC, Baked & Wired, Cupcake Actually, Lavender Moon, Grounded Coffee, and Swiss Bakery.
We go to Lavender Moon just because it is the closest Fav is Lemon curd and triple belgian chocolate. I will definitely try Alexandria Cupcake. Has anyone tried Hello cupcake in DC yet? |
| I have tried Hello Cupcake. They were good, but not worth the trip in. Better than Cakelove though. I haven't tried all the competition, but I prefer Buzz and Lavender Moon. |
