Umm, congrats?
And yeah, Wal-Mart is worse, certainly than any company (like Giant) that is union, and even than the others due to its history of purchasing from sweat shops. That doesn't include the censored music, the past history of crap benefits (which have gotten betters), etc. |

I know that every time a metro line is run in a city out to the suburbs, a certain subgroup of the population gets worried that it will bring in crime because it will provide easy access to their area. I also know that the subtext is that poor, largely black areas are the cause of the worry. I also know that in city after city, the data does not bear out this fear. What actually happens is that business increases and employers find it easier to staff their retail positions. |
It's all relative--and Walmart is especially evil. |
| You are correct in that it does not bear the fear as you cited PP. There is a strong correlation between public transportation location and crime, however. In addition, are the clientele of Walmart the same as the clientele of Tysons II? Nope. But you should bet certain clientele of Walmart , that is not based on race but rather propensity to steal/be angry enough to steal whatever, sees this as a golden opportunity. You are rather naive to think otherwise. I am not saying that I frequent either Walmart nor Tysons II, nor am I claiming to be any color that you know of. This is independent of most staff, current events notwithstanding. |
You shouldn't have to worry. The District is getting two Walmarts so no need to go out to Tyson's to get one's shoplifting on.
