What can I leave on when I leave home?

Count me in on all those as well. Started dishwasher before I left for work this morning, and often switch loads of laundry when running in/out between errands.

To those that don't leave these things running (on) when they leave the house, do you also not leave things on when you go to bed?

A Fairfax County Fire Chief once told me that everything, except refrigerator, should be unplugged when you leave home, particularly if you are going to be away for over 12 hours. Knowing I probably wouldn't do this when I went to work he told me to always unplug toaster, electric blankets, and not to use crock pots when not at home. Did you know that all electrical appliances use electricity even when turned off? Unplug and cut down on electric bill.
