S/O Anyone had/know kid very behind when moved after DCPS?

Personal experience... DCPS PK and 2nd into FCPS K and 3rd. 3rd Grader placed into school-based AAP (G&T) within weeks of start of year, Kindergartener ahead and bored with FCPS K curriculum . Not JKLM but east of the Park, NW school.

I know someone that works with students at Georgetown and he said he was amazed at how many kids got into GT that did not actually have the skills to do the work. The reality is that a lot of kids in DC and the burbs may not have the skills they need because of too involved parenting or not enough parenting. I personally struggle with the line but that may be more important that school district.

Kids from Hyde and Eaton have gone on to Maret, STA, Sidwell, GDS, and NCS with no issues and are thriving. We're still in DCPS, but DC are still friends with many of these kids who have moved on to privates and are thriving.

Title I elementary (DCPS) now in a prestigious private. DC is on honor roll and considered one of the brightest, according to what his teachers said at conferences.

It really depends on the child! Kids are in the same classroom but are learning at differnt levels and may be a better/worse fit for a particular school. It really is hard to assess such a thing.
