| 18 hours and counting in Bethesda. Frankly based on the volume of outages and the experiences we had last summer (7 days with no power one of the times, 2 other 24 hour periods) I am assuming we need to be prepared for a week of no power. |
Call again (if you didn't call recently). Dominion now has an estimate for us and didn't the first time we called (we have between 5pm and 11pm). Now, I am wondering, why on earth didn't we put the milk in a cooler with snow? How dumb are we? Wait - don't answer that. |
| Vienna poster here - based on my home phone number on the 888 number, Dominion gave the same 5 pm to 11 pm estimate. That would be great! |
How many times are you opening your refrig/freezer? And what are your usual settings (for example, we keep our setting at 7 (out of 10))? YOu can always keep milk/leftovers etc. outside in the snow - or pack a cooler of snow and keep perishables in there. Milk (assuming pasturized) can go unfrigerated for 2 hours. So, even if the refrigerator is "warm" milk will still be ok 2 hours after that. COndiments such as pickles, ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, maple syrup, etc. will be fine. |

I am in ffx city and mine was out for about 20 hours. Just came back on. I had no heat - that is the worst part. Never should have bought a home without a fireplace.
Now I am doing laundry, running the dish washer, on the computer.... aaaahhhhh House is heating up.
Next home remodel - wood burning stove. |
| 19 hours and still out....ugh,...... |
| Just got power back in Arlington....and.....the fridge and freezer are still in the "safe" zone (the door shows the temperature). Wohoo!!! |
