Will she be able to do Costa Rica on just $2k, though? I am looking to book a trip to CR's neighbor to the south and the tickets for 2 adults are $1400.

Huh? My family went to CR 2 years ago and we paid about $250 round trip on Spirit Air

I had never heard of spirit air and I just checked it out. How is it so cheap!?

I just looked it up and looks like many reviews are negative. What was your experience like with the airline? It would save us a ton of money.

You should read reviews for Spirit. As far as I know, they charge for carry on luggage (not just checked) they cram a lot more seats into the plane so you have no legroom, and they even charge for water. For WATER??!!! (Im not positive about that one, but I did read it in an article somewhere) I would skip that airline - they definitely nickle and dime you and it could lead to a very unpleasant trip. You can still get a flight to CR though in the $300 range. Check on Kayak.

How do you find airfare to Hawaii in this budget? We actually would like to go there, but airfare is a deal breaker....maybe you know some secrets I don't!

Hawaii would be tough to do for $2,000. You can get a deal on hotels but airfare and food will eat up your budget pretty quick.

Because they SUCK, nothing but but bad to say about them. NP by the way, not PP. ruined bags, baggage fees, seat fees, delayed flights, horrible customer service. But they are cheap! Just be prepared for issues

Thanks for the response! I guess we'll skip Spirit, doesn't sound like it's worth the discount.

With your budget, I would say a nice Caribbean vacation is your best option. Choose an all-inclusive resort, your child can stay there for free, since he's not yet two. Italy and Argentina are way above your budget due to the high ticket prices.
