15 week old's first day in home day care - Ugh!

I rarely put her down in the first three months; either she was chilling/sleeping on my lap, attached to my boob, or in the baby carrier. My mom told me I needed to "teach her some independence", and made dire predictions about clinginess. Now, at 8 months, she wants to be out and about and exploring. She only willingly sits still on my lap when she's almost asleep. I realize that anecdotes don't multiply to become data, but in my experience, holding a baby all the time is all good.

In case I wasn't totally obvious, I think a sling or other carrier for your daycare provider is an inspired suggestion. It would reassure me immensely if I were in your shoes, and if she accepts, it would demonstrate to me that the sitter has the baby's comfort and best interests in mind.

I think baby wearing is mostly to make our lives easier! It started in ancient times as a means for women to do their chores without leaving the baby alone. It has come back in style and I don't think it promotes clinginess at all. But, I don't think it makes the baby more secure or sleep better. At least in my case, it definitely did not help my baby sleep better. My second child used it much more and he is pretty whiney now that he is 16 mos. All babies have different personalities and what works for some, may not work for others. But I don't buy into the baby wearing at all! And I think it is ludicrous that some companies are taking advantage of the craze and selling their gear for insane amounts of money!

Now, I am curious to hear if the daycare provider, if the OP takes that route, agrees to wear the carrier.

Thanks for all of the input! I had a talk with the provider and we agreed to use the Baby Bjorn as he is used to that at home. So far so good, she said he is crying less and seems to be much happier! I think he is enjoying the other kids too! He likes to be talked to, so there is no shortage of that! Come to find out she had a situation with an infant in the past that needed to be held all the time and she found it to be too much, so I think that was her fear coming out when she made the comment to me. She has been great so far and my beautiful baby boy is still a very happy baby and sleeping the same throught the night! So, I am crossing my fingers that it is just first time mom jitters for the baby's first week in day care

Hey, glad to hear the Bjorn worked out with the provider.

Just wanted to chime in and tell you that I've been there and it gets better. The first day of daycare is hard for everyone. You and your child are going to be OK!
