Yes. I'm getting one for my husband.

I was going to say the same thing. The citronella one is great -- very effective and it doesn't hurt the dog. Plus it makes your house smell good. |
| I had a maltipoo and they are very stubborn when it come to barking. I tried the citronella and sound collars, that just made her bark more because she was annoyed. The only thing that worked was the bark collar. But after I'd take it off, a 3 weeks later we had to start over again with the bark collar. I love my dog, but the police came and complained about the noise so it was either a bark collar or the pound. |

PPs that have used the citronella collars-what size dogs did you have?
PP with the maltipoo, was the bark collar successful? What collar did you end up using that was successful? Thanks! |
17:25 here. I have a 12-pound Jack Russell terrier. |
You are basing your opinion on observations - I'm basing mine on actual experience. Maybe the person on you tube had a different model bark collar turned to a higher setting. He certainly wasn't wearing the one I tried on, it would never fit on a human throat - and . . . it wasn't painful. I know, because I tried it. You don't, because you've never felt one. Dog's squeal for all kinds of reasons . . . sometimes for excitement, sometimes for fear, sometimes in pain. Also - a dog's neck is not even comparable to a human neck in terms of sensitivity. Why don't you pick your baby up by biting the back of its neck and carry it around that way?? Do you think it would hurt your baby? Doesn't it hurt the dog?? |

| Who are these YouTube people? They should sign up for experimental testing at NIH. |
There are many, many, many more on Youtube. None of them look like they're getting shocked by static electricity. |
Here's another one. I guess humans squeal for all kinds of reasons, too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LnM0w4ypU4&feature=related |
| I'm the PP with the maltipoo... The collar had to be used every 3-4 weeks for 3 days at a time, for about 5 months. I'd use it 3 days then she'd stop, so I didn't use it anymore. But then 3-4 weeks later she started up again- she was so stubborn!! I bought it from Petco, for small dogs. Make sure to get one with a fabric collar, the plastic collar was useless and I had to buy the fabric one. It was around $85 if I remember correctly. Poor thing I wish I didn't need to do that but nothing worked, she was out of control. |

OK crazy you tube poster . . . again . . . there is such a thing as FIRST HAND evidence and SECOND HAND evidence. First hand is considered to be more credible, because the person has directly experienced the evidence in discussion. Second hand can also be used, but it is heavily caveated because the person doesn't have any direct experience. I have tested a bark collar. You have not. I'm very glad you are able to search you tube videos. However, you should really try to expand your research capabilities. It will open a whole new world of information to you. For example . . . do you know that many bark collars have a "low vibrate setting?" There is no shock at all, but they just vibrate against the dog's throat. This often causes them to squeal. Is it pain? No. Vibrations don't hurt. They startle the dog. I am absolutely certain none of the videos you posted showed the collar that I tried because . . . IT WOULD NOT FIT ON A HUMAN NECK! I will absolutely concede that some of the larger, more powerful collars for larger dogs probably have a shock that is comparable to a nasty pinch and is likely unpleasant. However, you can post ten BAZILLION you tube videos and it doesn't prove your case that all bark collars hurt dogs. Your incessant posting of you tube videos to support your case is about as credible as me posting this link and insisting that it is an example of a nasty owner training puppies to be aggressive dog fighters. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aluHCn78LVo |
You are a stranger posting on the internet therefore what you say is no different than the youtube videos to me or anyone else reading this. Your "first hand experience" is not as credible as videos where I can see for myself that the people are being SHOCKED to the point of pain, and NOT feeling the spark of static electricity. Did you not see the woman HOLDING THE COLLAR UP TO HER NECK, not WEARING IT AROUND HER NECK? Did not see the man turning the collar from SETTING ONE TO SETTING SIX? Again, I am not a dog, but when I see a dog that appears to be squealing in pain I won't waste my time trying to find a way to believe it is really just squealing out of shock. I have experienced static shock while petting a dog and as I said before, they have NEVER "squealed in shock" from the experience. If i am a 'crazy poster' then so are you for continuing to bark up this tree right next to me. |
| PP you are weird. All collars are different. As are the dogs and their reactions. People using them on youtube is just strange. The poster you are arguing with went with her personal experience rather than one on youtube. As she should. |
