How do you do that????

Insert an image? Copy the link to the image and then click "Img" (it's in the same row of options as bold, italics, etc.) when you're typing the message body. Paste the link and then click "Img" again to close the tag.

Thanks!

If you have a wood burning fireplace you can make them the old fashioned way in ceramic mugs!

You might be able to make the mix and freeze it, but I'd either try the microwave or fireplace, or toss it.

It is an unusual, limited edition, cake mix, and I can't fnd it anymore. I'd like to try it but don't mind trashing it if the microwave doesn't work.

Knock on the neighbors' door and ask "Can I borrow your oven?"

And offer them some cake.

+1.

Also, WTH is limited edition cake mix? I have visions of Jean-George signing cake mix boxes in my head...

There is such a thing as limited edition cake mix?!!? What kind is it?

America's Bi-Centennial 1776-1976 Edition. It's white with blue and red sprinkles.

j/k, new person here with a question -- what's the shelf life of a cake mix?
Anonymous
Wow, I never expected to get 2 pages of responses to such a question on a Friday night! I don't want to and so I won't borrow an oven. The cake mix was made by a small company, unique flavors, they stopped making it, hence I called ed edition assuming that would be self-explanatory as I didn't have time yesterday to use more words. There was a fire at my house and so in short I don't have a working oven at this time.

Thanks to those who gave useful suggestions.

How do you do this? I am fascinated with primitive cooking methods. I just found a primitive cookbook online -- recipes from the White House in the 1800s (including how to make soap).

How long are you planning to live without an oven? If you had a fire and need to replace the oven, I would just wait until I had the oven instead of fretting about a box of cake mix.

Everyone was pretty helpful, I thought. You sure are a testy, ovenless lady.

LOL. Testy I am not. If someone posts a question that I don't want to or can't answer I ignore the thread. I don't ask why do they ask the question.

Be careful about taking jabs at someone's misfortune of losing an oven in a fire. You know what they say about karma. Hopefully you will never face the inconvenience and danger of having a fire in your home so will not have to address such issues yourself. Finally, I don't see any "fretting" about a box of cake mix. The question was simple. The helpful answers answered the question: toaster oven microwave oven, you get the idea. Asking how/why/how long someone lives without an oven and not answering the question = not helpful.

I made the cake in the microwave today, I like it and I'll receive my new oven soon enough.

Oh, the wood burning firplace was helpful too but I didn't try that.
