As my dear mother would have it: "There is classical music, and there is noise".
My sentiment also. I'm such a fuddy-duddy and loving it, at 30 years old

Beware the imminent attacks from crazies.

For a rock group, the Smiths are about as close to classical music as you can get. Give them a try. Start with The Queen is Dead.

Please tell me how you missed The Smiths at 30 years old? I am younger than you and I worshipped the Smiths as a TODDLER. My dad and I listened to Meat is Murder together all the time.

Please tell me how you missed out on learning reading comprehension.

How did she "miss out on" The Smiths? Well, you could just re-read her original post for the answer. She, like her mother, prefers classical music over all other music.

I think that Morrissey would find it unpleasantly ironic to see fans of his music picking on people who are different.

Your prejudice won't keep you warm tonight.

I am sorry, but "missed" is a perfectly acceptable catch-all for "miss out on" or "miss the boat," and I'm sure this will be confirmed or denied 8x over by the grammar/reading comprehension police on DCUM.

Maybe, my response was overly emphatic but I love The Smiths. Don't be such a killjoy...

19:31- Wise words, but I doubt those who need to hear it will listen.

It's sad yet unsurprising that those who value themselves for being "different" are the same as the rest, just in a different package with different musical tastes.

Wasn't making fun of your grammar.

I'll admit it: I'm judgmental of people who brag about only listening to classical music. It's small-minded, musically, to think that's all there is. There are wonderful musicians out there in all different genres. Why pride yourself on such a limited palate?

Could the same not be said for the fans of The Smiths on the first page of this thread?

Yup. It's like how I hate smug people who say they don't watch TV. Idiotic.

Poor OP, this thread has become a place your bitterness towards others who are not like you.

To be on topic, for OP's sake- I didn't know who The Smiths were, so I didn't get it at first, but I was laughing at the progression of the original thread anyway.

This thread just makes me think of yet another The Smiths lyric:

love peace and harmony
oh very nice
very nice
but maybe in the next world
( and sadly not on dcum!)

Good one, 20:07!
