You suck it up and take responsibility.
I can't believe anyone is even asking this question. |
|
Really? You have never felt like not walking your dog? Come on. Yes I have a yard.
OP |
I'm not a dog owner myself, but I expect there certainly have been times when all dog owners didn't feel like walking their animals. I expect they did it anyway unless they had someone else to do it for them. |
Like Nike says, just do it. Much like going to the gym for many, the hard part is getting out the door. But you're always glad you went.
|
| I just let the dog crap on the floor. Is that wrong? Should I not be doing that? |
Yes, OP, as many of us have said, we have times when we don't feel like walking the dog...AND WE STILL DO IT. I get the feeling you are on here looking for someone to give you permission to slack or to justify it to yourself. If you can't be bothered, rehome the dog. |
| Listen people by walk I meant a 45 min walk, not a 10 min do your business walk. Calm down. He got 2 today actually. |
| We walk him anyway. Seriously, what other option is there? Post on dcum hoping for some magic solution? |
| Get a yard with a fence. I never "walk" my dog. |
| You can be like my crappy neighbors who won't get off their lazy asses and instead let their dog bark its a*s off for 5 minutes straight at 10 each night and at 6 each morning in their backyard (which backs up to my backyard). My poor kids have finally learned to sleep through it, but if they're sick or something-- it wakes them up always. I hate these people!!!! Don't be those people!!! |

OP,
Next time, be clearer. It really did sound like you didn't want to take the dog out period. |
| I can't believe the responses. If you feel like complete shit, let the dog out to pee and poo but you don't have to take it for a 30 minute walk. |

we rarely walk our dogs. We have a huge yard. Plus they play with each other. They also play ffetch in the house. They are little. My big dog is older would love to walk everyday but I just cat. She goes outside for hours somedays just to sniff.
occasionally we walk or I might let her loose to chase the neighbors cat. Always come back and none of the neighbors complain. I live in a really quiet less crowded area. |

I walk the dog every morning and therefore fulfill my familial duty.
The other people (ahem) in my family who have responsibility for the second walk use a laser pointer which the dog loves to chase. You can use it at night in the yard or in a shadowy staircase during the day. The stair case gets them running up and down the stairs -- good exercise. A problem with this particular dog, though, is that she loves the "little red bug" so much that she obsessively bothers people about it in the evening -- so it depends on your dog. If it gets too obsessed with the laser pointer, that's not a good thing either. But then I did my walk already. I leave it to the rest of the family to deal with the laser pointer obsession! (Otherwise I would have 100% responsibility for this dog!!!) |
