If you don't like them and they are unfriendly, why on earth did you even go over to them to say hello???? That makes on sense. Being polite in this case just means smiling or nodding in their direction if you/they happen to catch each other's eyes. Other than that ...why bother? No need to "kill them with kindness"

agree! I'd barely acknowledge the bitches.. Just enough to be civil as pp suggests.

I agree with the pp that said you are hotter. Bitches like that are threatened by you or jealous of you.

prettier,
more intelligent,
wealthier,
etc.

There used to be a fat ass clique in my hood. Queen bee of it, while intelligent, was the fattest and nastiness. She moved away and the meaness disipated.

If you possess more than one of the above list... God bless you. Women can be nasty---the ones with the mist free time...nastiest.

OP, if I were you I would assume I am either way prettier, or lots smarter, or cooler or my kids are way more accomplished and way better looking, or something else that makes these women feel intimidated by me. In other words, it is their problem and their loss and you just should stop trying. No reason to be rude or ignor them. Just give them a friendly smile or a quick "hi" and move on. Clearly, there are other women who do want to hangout with you and you should spend your kindness and warmth on them.

OP, they have nothing to offer you. Move on. They already proved they are people you have nothing to do with. Don't you demand better quality friends? I would hope so.


Some people are insecure about who they are. Don't let them inflict their problems on you. If they had anything to offer, they would not be playing such games at their age. Contrary to what PP mentioned, I highly suspect they were NOT part of the popular crowd at school, and are trying to make up for lost time. Really, who needs it? Is this the type of person you want to spend your precious time with?

Let your kids pick their own friends, instead of trying to be up Queen Bee's ass. You will find kids pick better friends than most adults.

There are a handful of people in my NV neighborhood that could describe who you mentioned. They are laughable and the smart ones are distinctly unimpressed. Make it your New Years resolution not to even bother with such people who have absolutely nothing to offer you. Look past them (literally) and move on. If they are stuck in high school, it is not your problem. Have fun and good luck.

I live in the Kentlands and while the people are nice, it is VERY much like dealing with the high school social hierarchy. I have tried befriending some other Moms, but it seems that they really don't want to talk to me...for whatever reason, and I try not to take it personally. It's their loss, not mine. While it would be nice to have friends in my neighborhood, I have plenty that are not here and that keeps me quite content.
