Is anyone happy with the Mirena? If not why?

My DH could feel the strings during sex. I went back to have them shortened 2 times, and finally had it removed. The strings really bothered him, obviously.

Oh God, I am getting Mirena soon and I really do not to be a moody bitch. Bleeding. For months.

I hated it. It all but dried up my milk supply, so I had to stop breastfeeding earlier than I wanted. I had absolutely no libido whatsoever for the year that I had it. I had no period for the year, but I did get bad cramps once a month when I would have gotten my period. It hurt like crap when they inserted it and when they removed it, too, and I actually have a really high threshold for pain. Like others said, I also had bleeding for about 5-7 weeks after it was inserted. My sister had a similar experience with hers, except she also had severe cystic acne and PMDD on top of it all.

I had the Mirena for two years after having my DC, then had it taken out but had another put in a year later which I kept for three years.

My periods essentially stopped which made me paranoid about pregnancy sometimes. It actually made me calmer (no PMS moodswings) but the flip side of that it seemed to decrease my libido a bit as well. Both times after it was taken out the first few months I just felt more like "myself", crazy bitch and all.
