It would be wrong for Amazon to pull this book and allow books on how to grow marijuana to stay in their store.

Why? Because both are illegal? Are you seriously comparing growing pot with educating pedophiles?

They are BOTH illegal activities.

Yes, they are, and I acknowledge that. But really? Growing pot and molesting a child is the same kind of crime in your eyes? WOW

It doesn't matter that it is not the "same kind of crime" they are BOTH crimes. If a book about one illegal activity is cause for a boycott of a website, what makes the other books about other illegal activities not worthy of a similar boycott?

I suppose that if anti-pot groups were similiarly offended, they could conduct their own boycott of Amazon.

Thank you for writing to Amazon.com with your concerns. I understand that you feel very strongly about this issue.

As a retailer, our goal is to provide customers with the broadest selection possible so they can find, discover, and buy any item they might be seeking. That selection includes some items which many people may find objectionable. Therefore, the items offered on our website represent a wide spectrum of opinions on a variety of topics.

Let me assure you that Amazon.com does not support or promote hatred or criminal acts; we do support the right of every individual to make their own purchasing decisions.

Amazon.com believes it is censorship not to sell certain titles because we believe their message is objectionable. Therefore, we'll continue to make controversial works available in the United States and everywhere else, except where they're prohibited by law. We also allow readers, authors, and publishers to express their views freely about these titles and other products we offer on our website. However, Amazon.com doesn't endorse opinions expressed by individual authors, musical artists, or filmmakers.

We value all feedback from our customers, and I thank you again for taking the time to send us your comments about this issue. Although we won't be able to comment further on this topic, we hope you'll allow us to continue to serve you.

Amazon are a bunch of idiots for allowing this book to be sold on thier site! It would serve them right if they lost millions as a result of boycotting.

Growing pot is illegal for political reasons only. And that is changing. It's not a crime for cancer patients. But raping little kids? There's no comparison, even if they are both illegal.

I wouldn't boycott it for promoting illegal behavior, generally; but I'd boycott it for publishing something that encourages pedophilia, specifically. Do we not draw the line somewhere?

hm... the link is not working I wonder if they took the book down...

I don't understand how we can let "freedom of speech" be used to allow anyone to advocate harming others. I just don't see freedom of speech as meaning you can do ANYTHING you want.

I just bought a whole bunch of stuff from Amazon. I wish I hadn't.

I think I will. A lot of it was used items from various used book dealers though. I don't want to punish them, just Amazon.
