yes, you know best not the test scores

GT kids don't let things distract them. I wonder if the child really was the one who wanted to be in this program of the parents. hmmmmm

Damn! I'm going to have to let my ADHD kid who scored above 150 on the WISC-IV know that he's not really gifted after all.

i guess this is a newb question, but i am one so it's okay - we moved and enrolled our 2nd grader in an fcps school this fall, and ive been checking the mailbox everyday for cogat/nnat scores - are results coming in this week?
Anonymous
why this week? I heard the score(s) wont come until early Dec. have you heard anything different?
Anonymous
Scores usually arrive right after Christmas vacation - in early January, although some schools may send them out before the break.

I wonder if you love your child a little less now?

Straight A's...Now there is a great chance he will not be in gifted cluster next year, 4th grade. It really seems like one bad day of testing is setting his path for next year. Any one else ever dealt with this type of thing. He will not be retested until next fall.

My kid didn't test gifted either. Still got into AAP. You must not be in the FCPS.

I am looking for information for Grade 2 getting into FCPS AAP program for Grade 2 2011 -
1. Does anyone know being NON-FCPS student applying for AAP with JUST WISC-IV test results would be ok with out having CoGAT & NNAT?
2. Does anyone can help us with a WISC-IV testing center in FC?
3. Can anyone tell us the accepted WISC-IV score for NON-FCPS for the AAP in 2010-2011?

One bad day of testing? What tests did he take?

You get 1 score from the NNAT, and 3 scores from the CogAT on many different days to try to get into the pool.

For the parents out there, is there a real disadvantage for your kid to not be in the AAP program if your kid does not get in from the pool or does not get in from appeal?

Do what you have to do but what if you retest and get the same results? The test scores shouldn't depend on having a bad day. Some people are good at standardized tests they can prepare for but that doesn't mean they are gifted. And some gifted people do not test well on standardized tests. Childhood and happiness are so underrated these days.

When did your child test? My son is new to the district and in third grade so they tested him with the cognat (?) a few weeks ago. I am really curious to see his test score and want to know when to start stalking the mail man !!!
We are worried about some possible learning issues and really want to see these scores before we jump through hoop about trying for extra testing and such.

At least at our school, kids who test into the pool and then are not found eligible for Level IV services are automatically labelled as level III and recieve in-house services and enrichment through the base school.

I think that a child can get a great education in the general ed program.

I also think that a kid who isn't truly qualified for level IV can have a really rough time in such a quick paced and high expectation environment.

Straight A's do not equal giftedness. High Achieving and gifted are two very different things.

And why does it seem like everyone on this board thinks that a kid is doomed if they aren't labelled as gifted????
Gifted kids are no more likely to have successfull and happy lives than the rest of the world.
