write-in Fenty robocall!

For months now, Gray supporters on this site have been belittled, called welfare queens, told they were incompetent, etc. I have personally had conversations with Jeff about my complete astonishment at how racist many of the posters were when it came to Gray supporters. I voted for Gray. I know more about Fenty than you can even imagine. I know about things that have not been presented to the public, like the budget, policies and practices of the Fenty administration. Even with this information, I would never have called a Fenty supporter names. If you choose to support a candidate without really researching him, that's up to you.

I am an African-American woman who recently moved here from a southern state and saw more racism on this site than I ever experienced before. I want the Fenty write-in campaign to go away so that maybe we can heal. Although I know that we cannot since people who write on this site do so anonymously and would never actually let their neighbors know how they really feel.

I am the PP who wrote-in Fenty. First, let me concede that there are certainly Fenty supporters who have behaved badly. Also, maybe some of the people leading the write-in campaign have made inappropriate comments about Gray and his supporters. I don't represent them. I represent only myself. And my point, for the millionth time, is that writing in Fenty's name is a legitimate way to express one's disapproval of Gray. The actions of some Fenty supporters does not change this.

By disparaging ALL of those who choose to write in Fenty's name, you are acting in the same stereotypical manner of those whom you attack.

And by the way, I am an African-American male, and Fenty supporters certainly do not have a monopoly on racist rants. Both sides need to be more tolerant and civil. This was my original point to Jeff. You can disagree with someone without the ad hominem attacks.

...and we just confirmed that a voter used a write-in hand stamp. On a touch screen.

This proves that all Write-In proponents are idiots. No exceptions.

But seriously, I do think that civility is important, and not just in the DC mayoral race. I don't think that Gray supporters are stupid or evil. I just disagree with them as to the best approach to take with schools and other issues. Nor do I think that all Tea Party people are ignorant bigots (although some are, and these are the ones getting the most attention from the media). I would like to see more reasoned, thoughtful discourse in life generally and on this site specifically. Jeff, as the manager of this site, you can lead by example.

Mr. Steele, as usual you are dead wrong, as you are on any matter touching on politics. Must I discipline you again? This incident proves only that at least two write-in proponents are idiots: the one who attempted to use the stamp and the one who manufactured it. (Assuming, to be charitable and to give your argument every benefit of the doubt, that the voter did not make it himself.) The idiocy of other write-in proponents cannot be confirmed without further evidence, though I concede you have reason to be suspicious.

One thing that distinguishes the Fenty write-in from a Hillary write-in is that there is no McCain/Palin ticket to benefit. So I have nothing against those writing his name in.

However, it was not Adrian sending out ugly emails. It was the vitriol that bothered me, and it bothers me here too, whichever side it comes from.

Actually, it only proves that the voter was acting like an idiot. The making of the stamp was reasonable as long as the voter showed the minimal sense to get a paper ballot.

BTW, at this early point (by DCBOEE standards), it looks like Fenty may take Wards 3 and 4. Given his lead in Ward 3 on 9/15 that Ward would not be a shocker, but he has more of a lead in his home Ward, which he lost last time.

Only the two Chevy Chase precincts have reported in W4. Fenty will get clobbered east of the park. I suspect Gray will win W2 and W3 as well when it's all said and done.

Jeff Steele! This is neither nice, nor a good argument. I have to disagree with much of what you've said. No one should support a party blindly!! I mean we're not Hitler youth over here. We should evaluate each candidate as individuals. I support your choice for Gray. Everyone has the right to vote for who they believe in, but I wrote-in Fenty today.

Jeff, thanks for looking more closely at the results; I should have seen that. And now Gray has pulled ahead in both Wards.

You're so right Jeff. I'm so glad that white guys like us are so down with that folks that really matter to us. It's mighty white of us, I'd say. Can't wait to until these folks wake up and see who's really in control, huh?

Jeff will disagree with you. And he's pretty sure you ARE Hitler. Make no mistake. He is that much of a narrow minded, intolerant, hate spewing ideologue.

Another white guy here. Just thought I'd mention that I can't figure out what the hell this last guy is saying. I'm sure I'd find it funny if I were smart enough.

PP. You know more about Fenty than we can imagine...You are African American. You have have never seen as much racism as you have seen on this site. You moved here from a southern state...Hmmm, where have we heard these words before? You are really crazy aren't you? And dull as dirt with your repetitive dirge. You can't even think up new (lies) language to pump your insipid, boastful, browbeating posts.

Check the DCBOEE site. I think all but one W2 precincts are in and Gray has 65% of the vote. In W3, I think all precincts are in and Gray has 51%.
