where's the best place to buy a pie?

I disagree vehemently, but given the fact that the OP asked "Where can I get a pie in town, preferably down-fucking-town" and every other poster has shared their favorite pie shop in freeking Vienna freeking Virginia, I still win the thread.

You win for most defensive pie post ever, for sure!

OP, you can buy a Mrs. Smith's from any D.C. grocery store that will be as good and less expensive than Dangerously Delicious! (Unfortunately... I was so excited about the idea of a great pie store.)

Hyperbole for comic effect...

Though there's a great pie shop just over the border in West Virginia, OP. Bit out of the way, but they're yummy!

The place in Vienna delivers -- does the place in West Virginia?

I like the "Happy Baker" at the Bethesda Farmers market (the permanent one on Wis. ave-- need to order in advance).

I tried the savory pies from Dangerously Delicious and was disappointed.

Now I'm defensive too-- Bethesda is at least closer than Vienna, but Baked and Wired might be the closest/best choice for someone downtown.

If you're not up for driving out to *Leesburg* [ ], you should try Dangerously Delicious Pies on H Street, NE. They're utterly fantastic. Big selection of savory as well as sweet pies, you can order ahead or just grab what they have.

Another vote for Dangerously Delicious!

Yep, Pie Gourmet delivers and also ships (you can get overnight shipping). Their pies are just as good when they're frozen and defrosted (or reheated if you order a dinner pie).
