where's the best place to buy a pie?

Hi all. We need to bring a pie to a friend's Thanksgiving dinner. Can anyone recommend a great place to buy a pie in/around DC? We live downtown so closer is better but not an absolute. Thanks in advance!

Pie Gourmet in Vienna. Best pie ever!! They will deliver, for a small fee. They are already taking orders for Thanksgiving and will book up well in advance. Order now. The french apple pie is to die for.

If you're not up for driving out to *Leesburg* [ ], you should try Dangerously Delicious Pies on H Street, NE. They're utterly fantastic. Big selection of savory as well as sweet pies, you can order ahead or just grab what they have.

I really like Whole Foods' fruit pies, but haven't tried their pumpkin.

Whole Foods has the best fruit tarts, but I don't know about their pies.

That pie place in Vienna is amazing. If you're ever up near Germantown, go to Butler's Orchard and get some to put in your freezer. When you have a party or go to someone's house, you just pop it in the oven and cook it fresh. DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!

Pie Gourmet in Vienna is awesome! (but kind of a hike from DC, about an hour in rush hour but 30 minutes mid-day- I work downtown and live about a mile from Pie Gourmet)

Baked and Wired in Georgetown. It's better than Pie Gourmet, and even if it's not, do you really want to drive to Vienna for a pie? What is your time worth?

Wagshal's in Spring Valley on Massachusetts Ave. has great pies.

Dangerously Delicious is way too expensive because they are not that good. The idea is great, but the execution is nothing special. You can do better for half the price or less.

Ditto. It is getting late so if you want a pie for Thanksgiving, orer now and put yor order in for Cristmas. They also have a chocolate chiffon pie with walnuts in the crust. I'm drooling just thinking about it.
