What temperatures were classrooms reaching?

The yoga classroom was getting to 90F this morning. Ironically, it's in the old basement. The newer wing seemed to have no trouble today, because it has a separate HVAC; it was warmer than usual, just because other parts of the building had no A/C. The old part of the building was variously warm to hot today depending on sun exposure and proximity to the new wing, and yesterday seemed a little humid and slightly warmer than usual. I think that specific HVAC died yesterday, actually.

This is also what I heard. The newer wings were fine but the more historic parts of the building were very hot.

This. It’s a huge liability issue - students and staff could get hurt and sue.

Love how we literally just spent weeks arguing and freaking out over the budget and how many jobs were being cut but then some people seem fine with the idea of MCPS having to pay out unsafe working environment lawsuits.

Hopefully they can consider moving the hot classrooms to the cooler parts of the building tomorrow so as not to miss another day of school at this busy time of year.

Ha, that's right! But the kids were very unhappy... they're full of hormones and run warm already.

Anyway, BCC has just announced early dismissal again tomorrow, where they will teach the afternoon classes in the morning, to make up for missing them today. So one full day over two days.

What teaching is actually happening at any of the schools at this point in the year?
Anonymous
In the past, when weather like Thurs and Fri, a few teachers held classes outside on the grassy areas under trees. Limited space tho so not all the classrooms could be outside. Better to close as most of the school is older or original building.

Any plans to update (gasp, demolish and rebuild) the wings or buildings that are 100 years old?
Anonymous
Why do some teachers have huge ass fans for their classrooms and others don't. Do teachers get their own fans?

Oh gosh please no. BCC actually had some charm as a school in part because of the historic sections of the building.

None.

I bought my own fans for my teaching space. There were none, otherwise, apart from the ones used in the gym.
