| DD noted the school was more humid yesterday, and I suspected they were having A/C issues. Now apparently it's unbearable in some of the classrooms. Kids can leave at lunch time at 11am if they want, and school will dismiss officially at 12pm (with buses). |
| Gaithersburg HS was also having issues. I left work during lunch and picked her up and took her home and then went back to work. Not going to force her to be miserable at this point in the year |
| Kids today are so soft and we're coddling them. |
|
I just read that Wootton is closing early as well. Shocker...
|
| Well tomorrow is going to be even hotter so go they might as well just announce early closings for certain schools tonight. |
| Yes! Finally now I have time to watch the kick off for the world cup! |
Seriously. My elementary school, high school and college dorm didn't have AC. Neither did my house in Chevy Chase! |
+10 |
Did the windows open? |
I went to Catholic school in the 80s and 90s. No AC, just fans, if we were lucky. When it was really hot, we had permission to take our uniform vests off, which was a luxury. We also didn't have AC at my house. We had two rooms with AC units and would gather in those rooms on crazy hot nights. |
| Global temperatures keep rising and we keep having hotter and hotter average temperatures. Today’s buildings don’t necessarily have the same ventilation as buildings had in the past. |
Strange as we had window units for ac as most did. |
|
All those proudly proclaiming that they had no A/C growing and that today's kids are soft should have their A/C confiscated as of today, FOREVER. If you're living in cool air right now, don't you dare criticize schools that close due to lack of A/C. I sincerely hope you come home today to find your A/C is broken. |
| It takes only one person to have complications for the school system to be sued because they didn’t shut down due to no a/c but here you all are calling the kids soft when they kids didn’t even make this decision…. |
For their kids’ sakes, I hope not. |
