Advice on menu? Dinner or heavy apps?

Sounds delicious, but I would add kebabs and a rice platter. Just chicken would be fine.

I wouldn't eat a lot of that at a party for fear that all of the garlic would give me dragon breath.

You’re going to need a lot more bacon-wrapped dates. It’s hard to eat just one of those.

I would add some non-Greek options. Regular cheese and crackers or dip, fresh vegetable plate with ranch, deviled eggs, meatballs, fruit plate, cookies, small bite desserts.

Thanks! I settled on

a large chicken and rice platter,
50 Cheese pies
50 Beef kibbeh
40 Bacon wrapped dates
Hummus platter
Babganoush platter
4 lbs Grape leaves
4 lbs Tabouli salad
40 Falafels
Large platter of Baklava and homemade chocolate chip cookies for dessert
Pita and pita chips

This is so much better

Why wouldn’t they expect dinner?

I think everything looks good except I adore bacon wrapped dates and I would be sad to only get one

Appetizers are usually served before a meal - so “heavy appetizers” will still have some guests unsure.

“ Light hors d'oeuvres” implies your guests should plan to eat beforehand
“Heavy hors d'oeuvres” implies there will be enough food to substitute for a meal
“Dinner” implies food is plated and guests will be seated, like they don’t have a choice to be served or not.

I’m thinking this is more of a heavy hors d’oeuvres situation but the chicken and rice makes it feel a little bit more like a meal. Honestly, I think my guest will go 50-50 some won’t eat that much because a lot on GLP ones and some will eat.

I’m sure it’ll be tasty but I probably wouldn’t eat much. This menu means pretty hard toward non vegetable vegetarian options so if that’s your group, that’s great. I’m more of a protein and vegetables person and this is all pretty carb/grain heavy.

I’m just curious what would be your ideal menu? Like a barbecue spread? We just wanted Mediterranean tapas and I don’t eat lamb as many other others in the party our vegetarians so it works but I am curious maybe I should have added more meat options.

There is tabbouleh, baba ghanoush which is mainly eggplant, and chicken. So there is sufficient variety in the menu.

Would a veggie platter (carrots, celery…), make a difference?

Ok? Eat some Wonder Bread when you get home?

No.

That ruins the menu.
