Would taking AP stats count against students applying to schools that say looking for most rigorous? Or is having already take lb calc rigorous enough?

Not a problem. This year a kid who took AP stats instead of MV got into 2 of H/Y/P/S/M. But he also had huge STEM EC accomplishments.

If your accomplishments are so strong, then it does not matter. But for most students, it is going to be an issue at T20.
