DE Linear Algebra at TJ

Anonymous
DS is taking linear algebra as a senior next year. Math is not his favorite subject but he has to take math all 4 years at TJ. We are looking for resources, helpful tips from students who already took this course to help him prepare for the course. He knows that this is not an easy course but would appreciate any help so that he can get ready for it and avoid any surprises. Thanks in advance!

He can take Statistics instead.

He is taking half semester of stat and half semester of linear algebra. He likes stat and does not want to take multivariable.

Why are you responding to your own posts as if they're from different people? Do you really think nobody can tell?

Ugh what torture. Glad my kid took the A/B route instead of B/C

And how could you tell exactly?

Anyway, OP: it is possible that your kid enjoys Linear even if he did not do too well in BC. Hopefully, he is lucky with the teacher he gets as some are better than others (plus, there are two math teachers leaving this year and so there will be new teachers too!). On the other hand.. if he likes stats and did not already take AP Stat (RS3), he could take a year long AP Stat? That class should be very easy.

I meant to write RS2.

OP here. I am not responding to my own posts. Not sure who got this notion.
Anyways, thank you for the responses. DS cannot take full year stat as he already did RS1 and RS2. So he is talking half year RS3 and half year linear algebra. I was looking for some tips, resources from folks who already took this so he can prepare well.

OP here again. I am not sure which math teachers are leaving. Hoping that DS gets a good math teacher!

There are no other options like Discrete Math?

Who is Dr. J and how do you know they are retiring?

NP. Dr. J is a math teacher for Multivariable and Linear, among others. Or was -- my kid also heard she's leaving.

Kids who got an A in BC Calc and a 5 on the BC Calc AP exam were given Cs and Ds in linear and multi— the grading is very very tough, the tests are extremely challenging and the pace is fast. Be prepared for this going into it; students need to make the class their top academic focus & study well. On the bright side it will make their college professors seem easy.
