Why was the media so cruel to Michael Jackson?

Anonymous
… as long as he is not hurting anyone. You almost had it!
Yes Michael Jackson was a talented musician. He was also a monster. And a drug addict. And a liar. And a pedophile.

- saying it’s normal and loving to have children in your bed
- incredibly wealthy and had a stream of unrelated younger males in and out of his home
- continued to host boys and their families at Neverland Ranch following the 1993 and 2003 child sexual abuse accusations
- engaged in childlike activities (climbed trees, water balloon fights)
- named a baby Blanket
- dangled a baby outside a hotel room
- wore surgical masks (which was very unusual then)
- transformed his estate an amusement park complete with a private zoo, Ferris wheel, etc
- inconsistent - initially claimed older two kids were conceived naturally, Rowe later stated in interviews that the process was through artificial insemination

These are not normal. His appearance, voice, statements and actions made him a person of fascination but not in a good way. He had a difficult upbringing and there were definite repercussions of that. It was like watching a train wreck.

Sorry but some of the things you list make him awesome. Since when is climbing trees a reason to be shunned? And turning his home into an amusement park? Even more badass.

People are ridiculous.

Climbing trees in the middle of an interview is different than doing it while hiking or out with friends. And no, childless adults don’t turn properties into amusement parks.

But let’s say those things make him awesome. What about the other things I wrote:

Are these normal? When you read them do you think they made him a badass or odd? How many famous people are interviewed and then asked if their marriage was consummated? When he married Presley’s daughter or had kids with Debbie…these were questions that seemed appropriate for HIM bc he was odd and people wondered these things.

I like his music and think he was talented but he was troubled and did troubling things. Do you deny this?

Do you not understand how inappropriate it is to ask him if he consummated his marriage to his wife? Are you guys insane?? He is allowed to do whatever he wants in his marriage and how his babies however he wants as long as he is not hurting anyone!

Still glossing over.

Yes or no

Is it appropriate to have unrelated boys in his bed which is in a massive compound esp with a huge power imbalance based on his fame and wealth status?

If the answer is yes, that’s reason enough for him to be vilified.

Then say i am not answering that…but don’t lie.

He was a tragic figure based on a difficult upbringing but he was also a predator.

You are so mean.

You are picking on him for not being “normal.” He was not normal; he was a creative visionary genius with a very extraordinary life.

He was an eccentric genius who was deliberately bullied and made fun of and picked on by the media and the public. This post itself proves it.

He can do whatever he wants with his hard earned money. Having “child like interests” is not a crime.

Not very bright, are you?

I am continually baffled and enraged by how tolerant our country is of blatant pedophiles. Especially if they are wealthy.

Esp the parents who permitted their kids to socialize with him despite knowing what others claimed happened. If you're a parent, knew another parent was accused of molesting a child would you ever allow your child to be around him/her? Now imagine the accusation being made more than once. Now imagine it an adult who is inviting your child over both with and without you when there is no other child there for your kid to be hanging out with. No alarm bells? Red flags don't turn into green ones.

Diverting the blame for the crime to the victim's family.

We ALL know he was lying when he told us he never lightened his skin.
Or had rhinoplasty.
It’s like he thinks all of his fans are suckers!??

So we are supposed to then automatically believe that he isn’t a child molester??
Once a liar always a liar if you ask me.

I think in Michael Jackson's case, the obsession with all this was also because he was SUCH a huge celebrity and SO famous at the top of his fame. It's hard to even describe how famous he was at his peak.

He was never convicted of the allegations of abuse.

No, I am not. But I think his family was blinded by his fame and fortune.

“Those” families. If you get in a car with a known drunk driver…
