Didn't they promise that all 8th graders entering the DCC, NEC, and/or countywide programs next year get to stay until graduation? |
It’s not really provided as you still have to get your kids to the homeschool and activities and sports. |

Wondering if anyone from Forest Knolls Elementary got this letter saying that current 5th graders can go right to Sligo and skip a year at Silver Spring International?

+1 |
| Isn't this going to create overcrowding at some more popular schools? |
Yeah, it works well for kids who are in the walk zone to the new middle or high school, but otherwise it's pretty inequitable for kids who would need bus transportation to be shut out of this opportunity in favor of kids whose parents can drive them. |
Why not just drop off at the closest bus stop ? |
Most buses don't have many, if any, empty seats. My kids report there are often 3 to a row to get everyone in. One person might be able to get away with this, but they will definitely notice 15 or 20 extra kids trying to board the bus. |
Not everyone can with jobs, lack of transportation/car, etc. Must be nice to have that privilege. |
Maybe they are sending the letters selectively to cohorts where the future school has space? Still not clear that all 5th and 8th graders slated to move in 27-28 have been given this option. |
| I have an 8th grader in the DCC and received it. Offering an early switch to Northwood from Einstein. It states that kids who “have been assigned a school through the Choice Process… may attend that school from grade 9 through graduation.” That said, I still don’t trust this. Why even send it to DCC and NEC parents? |
Because some people might want to attend their new neighborhood school even if they were already assigned somewhere else? |
| When did these letters go out? |
They are up on parentvue. |
I get that but letter was very poorly worded. |
