| We eloped. No one but us on a beach in Hawaii. So costs were kept way down. All in, it was probably about 10k, including first class tickets to Hawaii, and 10 days there. Wedding and honeymoon all in one. I did spend about 2k on a dress. Ceremony and dinner, including a wedding cake, on the beach. A huge bouquet of orchids. It was the best day of my life. No regrets. This was 2017. |
| About $20k or $25k 25 years ago. 100 people. I would do it all over again. The venue, the church was beautiful. At the time, it seemed like so much money. Now, I just spent half of that on furnishing my DC’s apartment. |
| We paid for three of our daughters' weddings and they all chose something different. None has any regrets. The cheapest of the three was about 40k. The other two were around 100k. |
| $11,000 in 2007 for 12 people in the Florida Keys. Paid for all family to come down which was the most cost. |
| Between 15-20k |
| Maybe $600 for our wedding rings, cost for marriage certificate at court house. No white Wedding dress. I could wear the same dress for work at the office years after our wedding . My husband’s parents took us out for dinner right after the court house. It was 27 years ago. I would do the same thing again. |
Out of curiosity, would you have appreciated if groom’s parents offered to help with costs? |
|
It was about $50k all in, including my wedding dress (about $5,000). This was 2007.
It was a very nice wedding, but traditional by today’s standards. Church & reception at a club. |
| Destination wedding this summer. 5 star accommodations at a French villa and food for 100 guests for 3 days. We're looking at 300k. |
They all did contribute in different ways. We welcomed it but really wouldn't have cared if they didn't. No one put a gun to our heads and made us pay for weddings. |
Wow! What is the name of the Villa?! |
I'm a MOB and like us, the groom's family has money. We don't want or need "help with costs" of the wedding. But I do hope they give some sort of outstanding gift to the couple. |
there are a bunch of of these in the French countryside and Tuscany and Lake Cuomo, etc etc. Exquisite properties, often with Michelin-level chefs. Good times. |
| 25 years ago, about $15k (most of that from my parents). It was great and glad we did it |
It sounds like you expect it. Like they owe it to you or something. |
