How many LC Meets for your team/practice group + when does your pool switch practice to LC?

Maybe it’s different for Burke since they are a separate franchise, but it does seem less than ideal to only have 2 LC meets before PVS champs. If your other meet is NCAP Elite, does that mean your younger kids only have 1 meet? The cut times for the timed finals sessions at Elite are more in line with 13-14 times than 11-12 times. There were very few 12 and under swimmers there last year.

I feel like if you are a 12&U participating in LC you would make Zones a priority if you actually qualified. But, I am also of the mindset that a 12&U should not be doing LC and should have a break (and just do summer).

My kid never participated in LC Zones even though they qualified from ages 11-14. The meet was the first weekend of August and disrupted vacation plans, and my kid was over all things swim by then. At least in PVS, there are actually a lot of qualified swimmers who choose not to go.

Some teams have already been to three LC meets with their 12Us, which is overkill IMO. Don’t these kids have other activities? Dance recitals? Music performances? Theatre performances? Baseball or soccer games? Track meets?

Some parents are wise enough to not enroll their kids in dance. And track meets are the only thing worse than swim meets- don’t even get me started.

Just because your club has been to 3 meets already doesn’t mean that has to have dominated your weekends. That makes it really nice- go to one session per meet or maybe 2 sessions total. You have plenty of swim opportunity and opportunity to do anything else you desire, as long as you plan ahead.

It’s nuts how different the sites are. NCAP Tyson’s (is it “Nova” now?) 12Us are at their fourth LC meet (this one is in Richmond!), with three weekends in a row.

Yes, NCAP Tysons and Marymount are now NCAP Nova. But Burke, Alexandria, Claude Moore, and any of the 5 Loudoun County sites are not Nova. They are just NCAP affiliates in Northern Virginia, not Nova.

And don’t confuse them with Nova of Virginia, and Nova of California (Irvine Novaquatics) because what’s another Nova?

It’s quite simple, makes perfect sense, and a master class in branding.
