Yeah, at May Magic today, NCAP Tyson’s was on their second LC meet already.
I think most sites had already done a LC meet before this weekend. There have been the OCCS meets, the Machine meet, Fish Derby, and the PAC meets at Fairland.
Wow. Didn’t know that. This weekend was NCAP Burke swimmers’ first foray into a LC pool for the season, and we only have one more LC meet before champs this summer.
Really? We only do three LC meets on average. The top swimmers generally do more. They will do Super Sectionals, NCSA Summer Champs, and/or Futures. But most swimmers will only do a few LC meets.
DP from NCAP Burke — yes, the 13 and over Silver 1 and Gold 1 swimmers can have more LC meets, but the 12U swimmers are only having two LC meets this season, and this past weekend was the first of the two. No LC practice until school is out. 12U Kids who make PV LC age group champs will go to them, and kids who make Zones can go (but most don’t because we just want a break after so much summer league swimming).
I feel like if you are a 12&U participating in LC you would make Zones a priority if you actually qualified. But, I am also of the mindset that a 12&U should not be doing LC and should have a break (and just do summer).
My kid never participated in LC Zones even though they qualified from ages 11-14. The meet was the first weekend of August and disrupted vacation plans, and my kid was over all things swim by then. At least in PVS, there are actually a lot of qualified swimmers who choose not to go.
