Wtf kind of nonsense is this??

That’s ridiculous and terrible. Many people don’t want or can’t have kids. I’m a parent. I would gently ask if you can have a 10 minute meeting with an HR person and tell them that lacks equity.

I don't like when moms (and dads) are absent, non-responsive, or grumpy because they're dealing with their brats, but we're facing civilizational collapse here and we want as many kids as possible.

This is discrimination on the basis on parental status.

Terrible policy that opens up the employer to discrimination claims from men and childless people.

More so, it breeds discrimination against women since it sends the message mothers shouldn't have to work as much as other people. By extension then,.employers have an incentive not to hire women since any given woman, from their perspective, could become a mom at some point.

Totally agree this is bad policy, but... now that my own kids are independent, I am the first to volunteer to cover for parents of younger kids. I benefited so much from people being kind and flexible when I was in the thick of it.

Girl no, don't accept this-leave with the mothers.

I think it's kind of nice. It's been years since my work has done anything halfway kind. Most recent comm from management told us about how we should be grateful for our jobs.

While mother's day isn't a federal holiday, it is pretty universally celebrated. Plus father's day will be celebrated next.
