This has to be TJ because no other FCpS schools offer 1 semester classes. Econ and other classes like that are still considered a year long class. The teacher just breaks it up. |
| I assume people talking about “.5 semester” classes mean one-semester classes or .5-year classes. .5 semester would be a quarter. |
| The difference in GPA is minuscule. Also, top schools look at your transcript instead of the GPA. |
Agree, but seriously can FCPS do anything right? Maybe FCPS SIS folks need to go sit in an Alegbra I class where this is taught. |
Unfortunately the only thing you could do is to lower your expectation. |
| most kids GPAs go up every year so this helps more kids than it hurt |

It couldn’t possibly be more than a tenth in either direction, if that. More likely talking hundredths. I doubt this had a significant impact on college outcomes.
Reflect badly on FCPS because they don’t seem to have their sh!t together? Sure. Actually do any harm? Not likely. |
I realize the main purpose of most of these boards is to bash FCPS but don’t lump everyone in together. It’s only TJ. Which is kind of ironic. |
|
This is not a TJ only issue.
There are lots of .5 credit classes offered in FCPS. Some of the social studies ones are Current Affairs, Law in Action, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, etc. Granted these courses are not offered at every school. |

| Mid year updated grades/ transcripts go to colleges in February. Why the reporting to parents at the end of April? Delay is unacceptable as is the tone of the letter. |
