Would you pay $40 for a half chicken at a restaurant?

I also never order chicken out. It's just so, so easy and we eat enough of it on the day to day I prefer to order something that feels more special or complicated.

Yes, this.

Such a great point! The value add just isn't there regardless of the rest of the offerings.

There's a new restaurant in my town in MD that's charging like $28 for a burger. Nooooope.....

I would if that was in the envelope of prices for that restaurant's entrees and it sounded appealing at that moment. I mean, I like roast poultry and dislike pork belly, Beef Wellington, so should I order something I am less in the mood for just because maybe I can spend a couple of hours making it at home? Weird.

Same. Except for El Pollo Rico, though I've learned to make a great dupe. But if they charged $38 for a 1/2 chicken, then nope.

No, and I don’t usually buy roast chicken at a restaurant any price at a sit down restaurant. Too boring.

Then why are you at the restaurant if you hate all the offerings?

It depends entirely on the restaurant. The roast chicken at Osteria Mozza is $43, and worth every penny. If I could get the roast chicken from Palena Cafe (formerly of Cleveland Park) again, I'd happily pay $40.

Like another PP, I'm going to order what appeals to me at the moment, as long as it is within the range of the restaurant. If the roast chicken is $40 and the rest of the entrees are $20, than no, I wouldn't get it. But if the entrees are $30-$55, and the chicken is $40, then of course I'd get it if I wanted it?

But let me guess, they all support $25 minimum wage.

Yes. But I do enjoy ordering roasted chicken in restaurants.

I don't I like chicken lol. Jonathan Waxman makes good chicken. I like duck too. You just think $40 is a special treat.

What's your rotisserie setup?

I don’t think this is too outlandish. A half chicken plus a hefty portion of roasted potatoes is enough for 2 people.

Idk I paid $20 for 2 happy meals at McDonald’s yesterday, so that doesn’t sound too absurd unfortunately.

No.

We're going out to a brewpub-type place tonight, and I'm feeling ho hum about it, because it seems like everything is about $30 now. I know I could cook just as well at home.
