Best schools for CS related interests with the job market now and for the forseeable future: MIT, Stanford, CMU, ivies with real engineering , JHU, Rice, Northwestern, UCB, GT.

JHU, Rice, and Northwestern are not known for CS.

what the hell? JHU is exceptionally known for CS due to its cybersecurity program and FANG connections (places very well into FANG by percent of grads hired there despite a smaller CS department compared to CMU, Stanford, etc.)

What happened to the kids who learn how to code and love robotics and 3D design? What majors do they choose?

Robotics is the future. Something like Robotics + AI should be future proof. Mechanical engineering also a possibility.

Search for top schools in robotics and AI and see what majors they offer. Usually top schools like MIT, CMU, Stanford, GTech are quite quick in adopting to new trends.

Many schools in Michigan are looking at this trend. We have it in our vo-techs, community colleges, state flagships, and "tech" colleges.

The U.S. government is also shoveling cash into training related to semiconductors since the US has national security concerns in that area. Michigan schools are also targeted for this funding.

Funny you mention Michigan as the high schools do very well in FIRST competitions.

Robotics is both STEM abilities and skilled trades people. Michigan has many specialized manufacturing companies originally for the auto industry that can add robotics.

Told my kid, CS major at UMD, to turn down his internship offer this summer and begin coursework in nursing.
