Arlington Travel Tryouts

I assume they just cut the bottom 1-2 fields from the try out straight out, extend offers to the top 1-2 fields, and the rest get another chance?

What age group is he in?

Not OP. Are there any small clubs that are easy to make travel team for u12 boys? My son has only played rec and he just wants to play more soccer and get better. Our goal is not college.

Stay positive and do not give up even if he doesn't make it this year. My daughter didn't make Arlington the first time that she tried out. She tried out at other clubs but stuck with rec/ADP since she wanted to stay closer to home. Not making travel motivated her to work harder the following year (playing on multiple teams, guest playing at every opportunity, practicing on her own) and then she made it the second year that she tried out. The big tryouts make it hard to stand out so I would recommend talking to your ADP coach(es) about your son's interest in travel as well since they would be in a good position to provide honest feedback. Good luck!

They couldn’t— there’s another day of tryouts!

They apparently told my son after the first one that kids would either get an offer this week, be told they won’t get a spot this season, or be asked to come back to the second try out? He may have misunderstood but he was pretty sure there’d be some sort of communication

What do you consider close? Villareal will take anyone with a wallet.

Yes, most of the smaller ones with only 1 or 2 teams. Take Lee Mt. Vernon or Gunston for example. They only have 2-3 teams per age group. Any kid that shows up at tryouts (that shows they want to be there) receives an offer.

Only the super big clubs, like Arlington, SYC ect. have to cut kids due to coaching and field space limitations.

Maybe it’s different girls versus boys. I don’t think they told the u13 girls that, and I guess I assumed it was the same across all age levels.

Arlington has generally waited for both tryouts and given all the flux with the age change, that seems even more likely.

They did shift the U11/U12 schedule for next week a bit.

Not sure about the boys side but for the girls side Red team offers went out weeks ago for U11, and U12 . Tryouts are basically for teams 4, 5 and 6. If you dont already have an offer today welcome to team 5 or 6
