| I wear Brooks wide ghost sneakers with Superfeet insoles. I have high arches. I like Ecco sneakers, Alo sneakers and Onitsuka Tigers. My Sambas are nice for errands but not quite wide enough on one foot for heavy walking. |
| Do you actually want new clothes? I would be offended my husband didn't think I was beautiful as is. Seems like you just enjoy thiftng if you can afford w wardrobe budget for a vacation. |
| I suspect this is a troll post (how many people thrift their clothes but then their spouse “gives” them a large clothing budget just for one trip??), but I wear Brooks Adrenaline for exercise and my cute sneakers are New Balance 327 or Gola Elans. |
| +1 vionic Winnie. You won’t need any other shoe with cute dresses. |
| I don't wear Brooks but I have tons of foot and ankle issues. Sometimes I wear white Taos with dresses. They aren't as good as the Saucony I usually wear, but they are better than flats. |
Not at all. We’re very comfortable, but I wear a lot of used clothing to have money for things that would otherwise be out of reach. DH makes a good salary and a more rational woman would probably use her budget to pay for haircuts, new shoes, etc. DH would like me to fix up for a special anniversary trip, and rather than ask me to dip into my money, he’s funding it. I can look at my wardrobe and see it’s not as nice as the other women in our neighborhood. He’s getting me very pretty tailored things I’d never buy for myself. It’s part of the gift. |
He’s a computer scientist and I am in a technical field. I simply get more utility from home decor or therapy for my special needs kid than I do from beautiful clothing. The calculus was different when I was younger and my weight was more stable. |
| The idea that grown woman in 2026 who is married has to “use her own budget” for haircuts and is being gifted funds for a wardrobe update for a vacation…ugh. |

Assuming this isn’t a troll post…. If I had a Nordstrom gift card, I would go buy Cole Haan shoes. Their sneakers are comfortable and cute and with a $400 budget you could either get two pair or a sneaker and a sandal.
Someone mentioned Vejas earlier but I find them wildly uncomfortable. |
| Agreed with others that for a domestic desert location in the summer I’d go with sandals instead of sneakers. If I needed to get sneakers, Allbird “tree” sneakers are the coolest and most breathable comfortable sneakers I’ve found. The pipers are cute and similar to the vionics mentioned above. I also like the runners, which are a bit bulkier but also more supportive. |
Why do you need “fixing up” in a way only new clothes will do? What kind of thrifted clothes are you buying? |
I’ve been wearing only Norda shoes for the past year. They’re not as low profile and “cute” as adidas sambas etc but they’re extremely functional and more low profile than a cushiony running shoe due to being made out of Dyneema. I have 3 pairs.

| Brooks Ghost wearer. Love Cariuma shoes. |

Very weird post. Husband is paying you (a lot) to look a certain way for him? You don't have a joint budget for your special needs kid???
Or for furniture??? He would rather spend $400 on shoes than on your special needs kid?? This post makes no sense. Anyway, shoe cuteness depends on size too. But more importantly, thanks for another example of who NOT to marry |
| I wear Brooks Glycerin for running and recently started wearing Brooks Cascadia for trail shoes too - not enough support in my beloved Salomon's Speedcross anymore. I wear Taos sneakers and Born sandals mainly. Though you didn't ask - OLUKAI flip flops are wonderful. |
