Annoying, pedantic argument when the majority of names in the English language and otherwise originate from another source. If you like the name Sally, use Sally. If you like Molly, use Molly. Lucy doesn't have to be Lucille. I feel the same. I have a long full name (10 letters) but go by a common nickname, and I’ve never liked needing to have my full name on legal documents. My full name doesn’t resonate with me at all. It’s my name, but it’s really not my “name” (if that makes sense). It really serves no purpose because I don’t even use it professionally.

Agree that Sally is its own name but also Sally is a dumb name. Both can be true.
