schools that left a bad taste

Some made sense/fair enough and others left a bad taste with seemingly non transparent admissions policies, agressive marketing, all the 'we care about the kids' bs, evident yeild managment, games etc. Anyone else have a bad taste for particular schools or the entire process in general? I have another dc about to apply and man I am not looking forward to it. This are big businesses, they do not 'care about the kids.'

You first.

Northwestern for bs-ing their app result release date/time by electing - without explanation or notice - that acceptances were released first, waitlists a little later, and rejections last. My guess is plenty of kids were refreshing their screens for 30 minutes only to get rejected which Northwestern knew.

For what purpose?

- not my kids but a rotten thing to do

None, because I don’t take this personally.

What does this mean? They accepted kids that work hard and strive and that's bad?

No. Dedicating their entire lives to getting into HYPS. Brains wired only for college admissions.

Anonymous wrote:Not a bad taste per se, but my kid got a last minute interview request for Harvard. They had a scholarship weekend for a full-ride and couldn’t make any options work. The interviewer had to call admissions and see if they could extend deadline. It happened, went well as strong interviewer, got rejected. Obviously didn’t expect to get in, but I always envision them saying who do you think you are kid not taking the interview and moving us? Haha

I interview for my Ivy, trust me this is Alumni outreach. This is not about your kid and his admissions.

DP. "Striver" here means getting ahead by deliberately stepping on others and being cut-throat at every turn, it does not mean honest and hard-working.

How? I can’t sabotage them if they’re already admitted. These two kids are known for hoarding resources and being the type to never help others out, academically and extracurricularly.

Can’t imagine being a parent and having such a negative and definitive view about someone else’s kids, much less coming on here and posting about it. You’re pathetic.

Our DC private has 5 Michigan admits year in and year out. This year only one in EA. The ED kids with the stats, legacy, etc. were deferred and waitlisted. How do you go from 5 annually to 1?

Cornell. The tour guide took all her cues from Andy Bernard. Not kidding.

Will take our Stanford admission thank you very much. You can wallow in your pity party and age prematurely as your stress cortisol levels spike.

Maybe the kids from your private who ended up at Michigan were underwhelming and the admissions department decided to be more discerning.
